QuakeConからベストPCセットアップ

We talked to a few PC enthusiasts from QuakeCon, and we have some great photos to share!

QuakeCon is an annual convention dedicated to the Quake franchise as well as other Bethesda games, like Fallout, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and other titles. Several members of the SteelSeries crew ventured to the event,

DetectiveDrew

When I saw these lights, I just had to talk to DetectiveDrew, a PhD student visiting QuakeCon. As some of you know, the PhD life is a bit of a struggle, so for now DetectiveDrew is using a PlayStation 5 to play Horizon: Forbidden West while saving up to build her dream PC. A relatively new gamer, DetectiveDrew started her gaming hobby with Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (excellent choice). She came with her boyfriend, her favorite cowoker, and her identical twin.

When asked about her favorite part of QuakeCon, she said "the community. Everyone's so kind, and it's the kind of place where you can leave your expensive things and no one touches them. People come up to you to talk about your setup and tell you it's nice. There's competition but everyone's very sportsman-like about it."

Dark Harbringer

Then there are people like Dark Harbringer, the harbringer of darkness. This man has been to QuakeCon 20 times. 20! Since 2003. He mainly comes to hang out with his buddies, and he has started to bring his son and daughter, too.

Passionate about PC building, Dark Harbringer said he started back when you had to assign IRQLs. I think I'm too young to know what that means. He lists all of his PC specs from memory, and I'm barely able to keep up with him. AMD 5950X, 1200 watt ASUS power supply, Kraken water coler, 32 GBs of RAM, etc, etc...

He built PCs for work, so he has done it a thousand times, and even got a friend hooked on them.

"I enjoy doing it and managing cabling, and hiding everything I can hide. It's my therapy," he said.

GideonSeven

QuakeCon PC

GideonSeven has created his own PC case with some plexiglass-like substance. He built it for a friend's VR cafe, and it seems like the most fitting PC for that. He loves coming to QuakeCon to show off his own setup and seeing what other people come up with.

"I enjoy the challenge of PC building. It takes a lot of planning. I enjoy hanging out with a room full of people who like the same thing. It's refreshing," he said.

GideonSeven drove all the way from Joplin, MIssouri, for over 5.5 hours. His first time was 2018, and he enjoys it because it's a friendly event that doesn't feel as competitive as DreamHack.
